Sloan A. Carr Profile

Sloan was born in northern California, and raised here in Fort Lauderdale. Sloan attended Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, and the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he majored in psychology, with a minor in criminology and law. Sloan then attended the University of Florida, Frederick G. Levin College of Law.

After becoming a member of the Florida Bar in 1994, Sloan spent his first two years of practice working at a busy downtown general litigation firm, where he gained experience in both civil and criminal practice. Sloan then went to work as a judicial Staff Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit Judges, earning many commendations and exceptional reviews in his two years of service.

Sloan joined Ira Marcus, P.A. in 1999.

Sloan has retained his close contact with the 17th Judicial Circuit, having become a Civil Hearing Officer in early 2002, a role he still holds. As a Civil Hearing Officer, Sloan presides over civil infractions at the Central Courthouse, often handling hundreds of cases in a single day.
